I wasn’t a fan exactly - I never saved his songs to my iTunes collection except for Billie Jean and I Want You Back from his Jackson 5 days. When I was a kid, I loved Man in the Mirror. But I did like most of his songs but I always kind of took him for granted, like he managed to strike a deal with the devil for eternal life or something. In a way, I turned into a fan of sorts after he passed away quite suddenly. I even wrote a short story inspired by his death.
